Words from Viola

Conga III-Meet in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The CONGA III has begun it's planning to meet in the middle this year!
CONGA I 2008
I am on the far left (LOL)

Cheyenne, Wyoming in July. quick note. Facebook notes only let me tag 20 of my friends. Please tag your friends too! I am so tickled this has taken off again. I was part of the Conga I-Slay the Dragon Ride. I had a wonderful time meeting Flo and all of the ladies who accompanied us up to Deals Gap!
Last year with Conga II fund-raising became a big part of why all these wonderful woman get together to ride their motorcycles across the country.
To Help find a cure for this dreaded disease called BREAST CANCER!
As an Avon Rep. I also work hard to make people more aware and raise funds. This year I am partnering with the CONGA III to help them raise even more money this year.
By shopping my Avon Store you can save money on quality skin care and cosmetics along with all of the other wonderful products we have and have part of those purchases count towards the
CONGA III Breast Cancer Fundraiser.
I am only allowed to sell in the USA. However for every order placed on my Avon Store for ship direct ordering, I will donate back 10% to the Conga III Fundraiser.
Together we can all help find a cure. Go to www.youravon.com/viola to place your order between now and July 1st.
God Bless You All...and if the wind is just right you will also see me on the Conga III in Cheyenne, WY.

What the Conga means to one of my Conga Sisters Jenn/Draggie

As with the strength of being a woman, riding my own gives me my own independence and strength that I have in all areas of my life.
The camaraderie and friendships that you build with other like minded ladies, forms bonds for life.
We are an exclusive group of women who have a lust for adventure and life and take the bull by the horns. Not to be left sitting behind or on the back seat. (Unless we want to) The freedom riding brings, the wind in your face, the scents of nature and the beautiful scenery that is only that much better on a bike is empowering to me.
It is also a means of relieving your troubles and clearing ones head.
Whether it is a day long ride to destinations unknown, a charity ride or a short trip to the local shops doesn't matter. While riding, you have freedom, enjoyment and personal strength within yourself. We are lady riders and as a group we can come together to make a difference!
This is just a small insight into how I feel about riding and what it means to me. By joining the Conga ride for Breast Cancer, I am able to make a difference. No matter how big or small it may be. Personally, I have not been diagnosed with it as of yet, (touch wood) but my grandmother has been. She is a survivor and continuously reminds me about the importance of mammograms. I also have a few friends and fellow Conga riders that are survivors.
The Conga is a means of making a difference, having some fun, and not to mention the journey. I have also tested my own abilities on the first two Conga rides. We are ladies (and a few gents) that are on a mission, to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer in whatever manner we can. Last year as with this, it was having as much pink on us or our bikes to bring attention to ourselves. Pink is not one of my favourite colours and I don’t own anything in that shade, but I still got behind the colour by wearing a neon pink wig and wrapping pink pool noodles around my headlight and backrest. And it worked! The numbers of people that honked and waved was amazing, as this pink ribbon on two wheels travelled down the highway. Or those that would stop and ask us what was up with all the pink? After explaining our mission, we always received praise and usually a donation to our cause. Many of those we spoke with had been affected in some way by Breast Cancer and were appreciative of what we were doing.
Last year, as I was heading to join the Conga and bring it home, I was flying down the I-5 and pulled into a rest area for a quick smoke, when another rider came tearing in behind me. He came over and said he had been following me for quite a few miles and that he had noticed the pink pool noodle ribbon on the backrest and my pink pigtails flapping in the wind. He had to find out what this lone rider was up to. I explained where I was heading and the purpose of it and that is when he broke down and told me that he had just lost his mother to Breast Cancer. He is a firefighter somewhere in the Seattle area and it was a special moment to have this man share his story with me, as I shared mine with him. He was amazed with me, that I was pulling a 1000 mile day to join the ride and in the process raise funds. We shared a coffee and a smoke as we talked, then he generously gave me a donation and wished me God Speed for the rest of my journey. This was my first encounter with someone so emotionally affected by the disease and it made me even more determined to do all I could to reach our goal. This was just the first of many stories we would hear along our way. Some just thankful for our efforts others were heartbreaking for all of us.
After being a big part of the first two Congas, both on the road and behind the scenes, I’m having a hard time coming to grips with only being a small part of the Conga this year. I am unable to make the ride off the island as I’m in school but will be there in all my “Pinkness” to see the ride off the island, as well as when they return. Besides collecting donations, I am also organizing a Show n Shine upon the return of the Conga. The tentative date is August 14, 2010 in the Nanaimo area. More information will follow as I hammer out the details. I am planning on having all of the usual categories that are generally at a show but also one special category for those that wish to participate but just do not think that their bike is show worthy. I am planning on having a PINK category, to dress your bike and yourself in as much pink as possible. All entry fees to the show will be donated to the Breast Cancer Society. We will also have the representative from the Breast Cancer Society there to accept our donation.
The Conga is in my blood, the friendships I have made, the fun I have had along the journey’s, and the power to make a difference will continue to keep me coming back, no matter how small a part I may play. It could do the same for you.
You can support the Conga III ride for Breast Cancer in several ways:
Be a part of it and join in for the ride. It doesn’t matter if you ride a mile or 1000 miles. For more information go to - http://gowitheflo.com/
Attend our Show n Shine in August and your entry fee to the show will go directly to the Breast Cancer Society. Information will be announced.
Make a donation to help us reach our goal. You can make an online donation at - http://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx?SID=2442768
Any and all support is appreciated, “Come on everybody, Let’s do the Conga!”

Hawaii Dave

I just received a  donation from my friend Dave, that I met in NWMS.  Would be pretty darn cool to ride with him and not around pylons in an obstacle course. Just received a note from him, and it looks very very possible.

Aloha Flo,
Just got your e-mail. good luck with the fund raiser, I`m planning a ride, first couple weeks in July, Boise to Yellowstone then up to Glacier Nat. park Montana, returning to Boise via somewhichway?? Sounds like you might be in the area?? Let me know, would be cool to see your gig, your site says July 3rd in Vancouver but it also mentions Cheyenne Wy?? Let me in on your schedule, Kauai Dave....

Wanna adopt a Sock Monkey for a good cause.

My Daughter Krystle, is making Sock Monkeys, to help put her self through school. She is donating $5.00 from every Monkey sold, to our Conga Breast Cancer Fund. We just posted it on Facebook yesterday and she has 8 orders.  They would look cool hanging of your handle  bars, for a fun ride. great companion or gift. If you would like to order one, they are $30.00 . You can add her as a friend in facebook, and put your order in.         Krystle Booker

Let the funding begin!!!

Well here it is folks finally after the patience of the two gals I was working with Tracy and Chrisy, as sometime, I am not too patient myself, we go the donation site set up for the CANADADIAN BREAST CANCER SOCIETY. No sooner, than I went to look to get the link to put it here, and someone anonymously donated $50.00. So we are 1% closer to our goal... Thanks so much whom ever that was. I do believe there is away of finding out but, that will be another task for another day.

There are two ways of doing it, going to the main sight which is  right here...
Mainsight, click here and donate there, or you can type in a Sponsors name such as Flo Fuhr and it will take you right here and donate for that particular person you are looking for.
You may also help us even if you are not riding but will be riding with us in Spirit, collect funds in your name, and it will go to our thermometer. That would be so awesome.
If you are riding with us even for a mile, please register, it costs you nothing, it basically tells us who has rode with us. What a great and easy way of keeping track of things. You could even register as a Spirit Rider so we know.
Okay I am really excited now, so look out. Please try not to get OVER FLO'D as it is for a good cause. You may get tired of seeing it on facebook or here or there, but how else do we get the message out and raise our funds.
We have all been affected in one way or the other, so lets kick this in the butt so we can concentrate on finding a cure for different cancers too.
Thanks in advance for any donation. Every little bit helps!!!!
I will be adding the American site here too, so sit tight, we are going to have a little race, all in fun and for a good cause I might add!!

Hi,

My name is Colleen and I am the President of a woman's motorcycle riding group called Steel Horse Sisters. We are located in Massachusetts. I found your information on facebook on the Women Who Ride Rock site and was hoping to help with your conga line. Is it possible to have one start here and eventually meet you somewhere in the middle. I doubt any of my girls can ride to Wyoming but I'd love to give at least one leg a boost - do you have other states that want to join but no one to connect with ??
Let me know what we can do to help !
Thanks
Colleen

Recieved this today Jan3/09

Hello!

I am so excited to learn about Women Who Ride and Rock! I befriended you all on facebook. Then I came to your website and read the stories! How exciting. The story about riding back from Florida, brand new rider on a brand new bike with all these women helping you literarily brought tears to my eyes. This is really great! I would love to be a part of it. I am in South Louisiana and ride with a girl in Florida occasionally at rallys. Do you all attend any bike events (Daytona Bike week, New Orleans Bike Week)? And last, but definitely not least, is there any of the group by me? Or riding this way?
Vette
Now I been feeling like it is really time to PUSH the Conga. This Facebook has brought us alot of new friends, and I think it could be the start to a really big Conga, bringing all sorts of women together from everywhere. Bigger and bigger every year.
My one wish is for someone to take it over that REALLY knows what they are doing. We are wingin it...but we are doing it, be it a dozen women or  thousands, we are doing it.
It is now time to get crackin and prepare for Conga III.. so please anyone reading this with interest... Come ride, in person, spirit, or help out in anyway you can. It is the Conga III for Breast Cancer Ride.
We have an online donation set up for America and still waiting on the Canadian site. But in the mean time, start collecting, and jump in on the little raise betwee the Canadian Conga Chicks and the American Conga Chicks,  We are ready to Rumble.
Man, I got more pink gear and my bag is basically packed!!! July 8,9,10, in Cheyenne Wyoming 2010
